The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We believe that a child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances and therefore every child deserves the best possible start in life in order to fulfill their potential.

Shanklin Day Nursery in Stoneygate, Leicester work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to offer a wide range of stimulating, interesting and educational activities for children to become involved in. The EYFS sets standards for learning, development and care from Birth to 5 years. Children learn through a balance of play and structured activities. We aim to promote the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that children will need to achieve the Early Learning Goals by the end of the Foundation Stage in a happy, safe and secure environment.

There are 7 prime and specific areas of learning:

• Expressive Arts and Design
